Youth Exchange Program (YEP) in Sri Lanka

High school students from countries with significant Muslim populations live and study for an academic year in the foreign countries like Sri Lanka and others. YEP students serve as “youth ambassadors” of their home country, promoting mutual understanding by forming lasting relationships with their host families and communities.

Participants live with a host family, attend a foreign high school, acquire leadership skills, and engage in activities to learn about different society and values; they also help educate others about their home country and culture.

Sri Lanka - Bangladesh

The program officially launched in Bangladesh in 2004 in hopes to expand communication between the people of the Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in order to promote mutual understanding and respect. Since then, over 390 Bangladeshi students have completed the YEP and now participate as alumni.

Partnership Between Us

The YEP is administered in partnership with Sri Lanka by a consortium of non-profit organizations led by Sri Lankan International Education. In Bangladesh, HOPE’ 87 Bangladesh manages the YEP in partnership with the local Sri Lankan. Embassy, Public Affairs Office.
